Fall 2016 Conference

Conference Details

Join regulators and industry professionals October 23-26 for ICAE’s 2016 Fall Exchange. Highlights include:

  • Communication and negotiation expert Linda Swindling, author of Stop Complainers and Energy Drainers:  How to Negotiate Work Drama to Get More Done, will bring you proven strategies to deal with complainers and refocus conversations to obtain desired results.  Her interactive presentation will educate you on the 5 types of complainers and what each type means for you, followed by a workshop that is sure to influence your negotiation strategies and help drive performance.
  • Panelists from state insurance fraud units and the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) will present common fraud schemes, the impact fraud has on the various lines of insurance, and fraud “red flags” that staff should be looking for….even when handling complaints.
  • Attorneys from Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker, LLP will expand upon last year’s Complaint Files Do’s and Don’ts panel by discussing what happens when a complaint escalates to a lawsuit and the critical role your investigation and complaint file may play, followed by an interactive deposition workshop.
  • Judith Shaw, Securities Administrator from the Maine Office of Securities will join us to discuss Financial Literacy For Seniors.  Discover what is being done to educate the industry about seniors with diminished capacity so that they do not become a victim of circumstance.  Learn how regulators and companies can work together to raise awareness of financial literacy.
  • What is a Market Conduct Annual Statement (MCAS)?  This panel presentation will cover the unified system of collecting annual data from companies, which helps state regulators monitor and identify conduct within the industry.
  • “Ask the Regulator and Member”, a single-platform panel discussion between regulators and insurance companies.
  • Case Studies will focus on answering complaints in clear language and encourages attendees to practice the skill by collaborating with team members to re-write complaint responses in clear, concise language.
  • Ever-popular Breakout Sessions will focus on consistent complaint coding – NAIC model, consumer’s complaint vs. root cause, and reconciling confirmed complaints.
  • Tuesday evening dinner and networking event.
